Bonds of the Spirit

A roar of laughter
Filling ears with great sound,
Everyone just smiling
As a good time is found.

Tears that just stream
Letting us share in tragedy,
Wondering when hate will end
Letting our souls be set free.

Fear of what is going on
Not quite sure how things are,
Or whether we can reach a place
That is still so very far.

Hope that each of us is doing right
Keeping our children’s monsters at bay,
So they can grow up never fearful
That tomorrow is humanity’s final day.

Searching for that one person
That will make everything in our life right,
Having our love to hold onto them
Through the sobering dark night.

Each one of us is so different
At least that’s what we are told,
By those too afraid to see
What life really has to behold.

In fact we are the same
Sharing in both want and need,
Yet until we accept this
Humanity won’t ever succeed.
