Wonders
I
still wonder about inhabitants’ sereneness,
And about their “trees of idleness”
Under which people sit, gossip and drink coffee ‘Sultan’
Without thinking about ‘important’ matters and
fun.
I still wonder how the phrase, “God gives—tomorrow!”
Can sink a problem into oblivion without any sorrow.
I still wonder how to play backgammon
For a whole evening wrapped into nargileh’s smell.
I still wonder about some people’s strength
To bare 40°+ C without air conditioning and fans.
I still wonder about the majority of cook’s skill
To cook the same, with hundreds more restaurants, meal.
I still wonder about many hairdressers’ virtuosity
To spoil your mood and hair with high velocity.
I still wonder why on earth I miss
These wonders of Kuzey Kibrus
